The month of November 2009 saw near normal temperatures and much below normal rainfall. The first half of the month was warm with very little rainfall; the last half saw near to slightly below normal temperatures and somewhat increased though still below normal rainfall. Compared with November 2008, the month was 2.6 deg. Warmer, and 5.26 inches drier. Year-to-date rainfall through the end of the month was 7.19 inches less in 2009 than in 2008. The thirty-day outlook had called for below normal temperatures and above normal precipitation.

The week November 1-7 saw temperatures about a degree above normal, and no rainfall. Surface and upper atmospheric high pressure dominated the region s weather, resulting in mild nights and warm afternoons. The week's average temperature was 62.4 deg. This was 2.7 deg. Warmer than the previous week. Compared with the same week in 2008, the week was 3.8 deg. Warmer, and there was no rainfall in either year.

The week November 8-14 saw temperatures about 5 degrees warmer than normal, and no rainfall. A weak cold front crossed on the 10th, bringing showers over the southern counties and cooler temperatures in its wake. On the 13th, south winds returned in advance of the next storm system. Light fog was present in the area most mornings of the week. The week's average temperature was 63.5 deg., 1.1 deg. Warmer than the previous week. Compared with the same week in 2008, the week was 7.8 deg. Cooler and 4.75 inches drier.

The week November 15-21 saw temperatures about 2 degrees below normal, and rainfall about 75 percent of normal. Two weak storm systems crossed the region on the 15th and 20th. These brought the week's rains, and introduced two Polar Maritime air masses into the region which lowered temperatures. The week's average temperature was 55.0 deg., which was 8.5 deg. Cooler than the previous week. Rainfall was 0.73 inch. Compared with the same week in 2008, the week was 5.5 deg. Warmer, and and there was no rainfall in 2008.

The week November 22-28 saw temperatures about a degree below normal, and rainfall less than 5 percent of normal. Polar Maritime air was over the area much of the week, with low relative humidities. This resulted in seasonably cool highs and lows slightly below normal at mid- and late-week. Several rural locations saw a light freeze on the mornings of the 26th and 27th. Thanksgiving Day was clear and cool. Light rain fell on the 24th when the second of the week's two cold fronts crossed. The week's average temperature was 52.9 deg., and rainfall was 0.02 inch. This was 2.1 deg. Cooler than the previous week. Compared with the same week in 2008, the week was 1.6 deg. Cooler, and 1.65 inches drier.

A storm system and associated cold front brought rain on the night of the 29th, and colder temperatures on the 30th. This was after a mild day on the 29th.
